Calgary, AB – The University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business released its Economic and Social Impact Report in April. The comprehensive analysis demonstrates the school’s substantial contribution to economic growth, workforce development, research and community engagement across the region.
The report traces the trajectory of Haskayne’s influence as it flows through the local economy, showing the business school generated a $2.4 billion economic impact in 2024, including 1,063 jobs and $110 million in labour income.
Developed from research conducted by an independent third-party, the findings include direct and indirect ways in which the school bolsters Calgary’s economy by measuring the school’s contribution to GDP, job creation, tax revenue and economic growth in Alberta.
“This report provides a vivid picture of how what we do at the Haskayne School of Business supports innovation, job creation and sustainable economic growth. By quantifying our impact, we can better understand where we’re making a difference – and where we can expand that impact even further.”
~Dr. Gina Grandy, Dean, Haskayne School of Business

With more than 31,000 alumni – 80 per cent of whom live in Alberta – Haskayne’s graduates contribute significantly to economic productivity and social innovation in the region’s finance, energy, technology and consulting sectors. The elevated earning power of Haskayne alumni is evident in the $1.17 billion in wage premiums.

- $1.17 billion in alumni wage premiums
- $17.5 million in visitor spending generated through hosted events
